EL1340 covers the western portion of the Wau-Bulolo Graben, a structural corridor which hosts one of the most significant goldfields in PNG. This area has a historical production of some 4 million ounces of alluvial gold and is host to three deposits discovered in the 1980's which together contain in excess of 6 million ounces of gold in low grade stockwork style mineralisation. Significant mineral deposits in the area include: Hamata gold Deposit, 9.2Mt @ 3.1 g/t Au Keremenge gold deposits, 22.1Mt @ 2.5 g/t Au Hidden Valley gold deposit, 56Mt @ 2.2 g/t Au Wafi gold deposit, 26.1 Mt @ 3.5g/t Au and Wafi porphyry copper deposit, 100 Mt @ 1.27% Cu & 0.67 g/t Au. Two prospects within EL 1340 have been investigated by HPL and both continue to show potential to host high-grade mineable targets.
